THR has reported that FINALLY!!! Robert Kirkman’s Invicible will be coming to the big silver screen by way of the writing/directing duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldber. For those unfamiliar with the smash hit duo, they are responsible for the mega hit films “Superbad”, “Pineapple Express”, “This is the End”, “The Interview” and they are also producers on the AMC hit show “Preacher”.
If you are unfamilar with Invicible, he is a superhero. Picture if Peter Parker had Superman’s powers. That was basically the get behind the characters’s central concept.
He is a half alien, half human teenager, who discovered his powers on his birthday and took up the mantle of being a Superhero after discovering his father was the world’s most famous superhero.
However his father seemingly died and Invicible took his place, it was later revealed that his father faked his death and is in fact evil, like Green Goblin, Lex Luthor evil.
Universal Studios, the house responsbile for the Fast and Furious, Jurassic Park and Pitch Perfect franchises will be finacing and distrubuting the movie. Creator Robert Kirkman will also be producing with Rogen and Goldberg.
It was only a matter of time before Universal got into the superhero game and many had predicted they would enter by way of Image Comics, the industry that houses most of Kirkman’s work.
This is exciting news and I personally can’t wait to here more about it as it comes along.
