IN THE MEDIA REPORTS: Universal’s Jurassic World 2 Set For A 2018 Release Date With Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard Returning

That’s what Jurassic World brought in for the studio, and lots of it. The movie already had an impressive opening weekend and now has grossed total of over one and half billion dollars making it the 3rd highest grossing film of all time, surpassing Marvel’s The Avengers. No one could have seen this coming, not even Steven Spielberg himself who executive produced the film.

So with this film making the bankroll it did, it’s not surprising that Universal has set a release date for the film’s sequel tentatively titled Jurassic World 2 for a June 22, 2018. The films leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are set to return in their respective roles, while director Colin Trevorrow is working on the script but will not be returning to helm the sequel.

From a business standpoint this makes all the sense in the world, from a creative standpoint though, I can’t imagine where you would take the story after this? Hopefully Trevorrow has an idea that is indeed worth making for more than just financial reasons.

Jurassic World is still in theaters.
