According to Deadline, the always stunning and beautifully talented actress Brie Larson is in talks to star as the leading lady in the upcoming King King “prequel” Kong: Skull Island. Deadline also reports that Academy Award Winning actor Russel Crowe is in consideration for an undisclosed role as well.
The project went under some “reconstructing” when academy nominated Michael Keaton and Oscar Winning J.K. Simmons dropped out of their roles due to some “scheduling conflicts”…right.
The project is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Robert (Who will also directed World War Z 2) the script was written by Max Borenstien (who previously penned Godzilla) and John Gatins (fresh off his Oscar nomination for Flight) currently though the script is going under additional rewrites by Tony Gilroy (Bourne Legacy).
Brie Larson is an incredibly underrated talent (and should be Jennifer Lawrence famous if not more so), her performance in Short Term 12 should have gotten her an Oscar nomination imo, so her being in this film is great because it adds talent to the movie.
As for Russel Crowe, meh, I’ve never been a really big fan of his so his involvement is good news but nothing to get me excited.
Kong: Skull Island is set to hit theaters March 10th, 2017 and already stars Tom Hiddelston in the leading role.
