According to Heroic Hollywood this is the gospel truth.
Apparently Lucas Film and Kathleen Kennedy were extremely impressed with his handling of the latest Installment of the Jurassic Park franchise and how he was able to steer it to the highest grossing opening weekend of all time and the billion dollar club. This honestly to me isn’t all that surprising as Trevvorrow was rumored for a while for Episode 7 and when Brad Bird was in talks to direct Episode 7, Bird himself suggested Trevvorrow to be his place holder on Episode 7 while he finished Tomorrowland, but that deal didn’t materialize and JJ Abrams stepped into the direct.
This makes sense as Trevvorrow has proven he is able to hold together a major money making franchise, this also expands Lucas Film’s impressive line up of filmmakers they have gotten for their upcoming projects. JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson, Phil Lord and Chris Miller and Gareth Edwards. According to Heroic Hollywood Lucas film will unveil this news at their Comic Con panel today, so we may be getting confirmation, but until then let’s not put any stock in this rumor, which it is at the moment.
