Universal’s animation department Illumintation Entertainment has been underwhelming in my opinion. I haven’t really liked most of their films from Despicable Me and 2 to their adaption of Dr.Seuss’s The Lorax I haven’t been remotely impressed with their work, however this trailer looks like all that might changed.
Taking place in a Manhattan apartment building, Max’s life as a favorite pet is turned upside down, when his owner brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. They have to put their quarrels behind, when they find out that an adorable white bunny named Snowball is building an army of abandoned pets determined to take revenge on all happily-owned pets and their owners.
This movie looks hilarious, this trailer is so funny I’ve watched it three times I think and it had me dying and howling with laughter. Everything from the cat deciding to eat the turkey to the bird pretending to by flying a fighter pilot mission, all of it was comedic gold!!!
Also a highlight for this movie is the incredible cast and talent it has from Louis CK (Louie), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Kevin Hart (Get Hard), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Albert Brooks (Drive), this cast looks stacked and impressive, so their is big hope for this movie.
The next project from Illumination will well see is the upcoming Minions spin off which hits theaters later this year, so hopefully that movie can induce some real faith with me in this company and get me excited for their next venture.
The Secret Life of Pets stars Louise CK, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Eliie Kemper and Albert Brooks and opens in theaters March of 2016.
