The up coming X-Men film Gambit has a star, writer and producers and now it officially has a director. Rupert Wyatt who was responsible for bringing up Rise of the Planet of the Apes (phew what a long title) and The Gambler, which starred Mark Wahlberg, will be bringing the fan beloved X-Men character Gambit to the big screen.
Wyatt was previously on the shortlist to direct Star Trek 3 but ultimately didn’t get the job, losing out to Fast Five’s Justin Lin. All in all I’m excited about this, while I haven’t seen The Gambler, I am a huge fan of Rise of the…you know and thought that it was one of the best modern reboots he have had thus far. His direction was brilliant and you can see a little bit of his style in that film.
Josh Zetumer, who previously penned the script for the Robocop reboot or was it a remake? Has written the film, based on a treatment by Chris Claremont (X-men comics writer) and the film is being produced by Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
Gambit will be hitting theaters October 7, 2016.
