The Wrap is reporting that Academy Award Winner Tilda Swinton is currently in talks to star in Marvel’s Doctor Strange as The Ancient One. For those of you who don’t know who that is The Ancient One is the person who Stephen Strange sought after, to repair his hands after having a reckless car crash. Instead Stephen gets expose to the magic arts and crafts and begins his quest to become the sorcerer supreme.

Tilda Swinton is a great actress, she’s one of the best in the business and have a huge wide range and a powerful presence on screen. Casting her as The Ancient One is something that I would have never thought of and I don’t think I can clearly see it, but I’m interested to see how it plays out. Initially the casting choices included Morgan Freeman, Bill Nye and Ken Watanabe (who would have been my choice). Clearly Marvel is at this point looking for straight talent and are willingly to bend the rules when it comes to gender and such, which is fine by me, I have no qualm about that.

This is some much needed casting announcements seeing as how we haven’t heard anything since Cumberbatch’s casting, there was a rumor a while ago (last year in fact) that Chiwetel Ejiofor was being considered for Baron Mordo a choice which I would absolutely love to see come to fruition but that rumor has sense gone stale so who knows if that was true or not.

Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th, 2016 and is being directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus and Passengers) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange
