A while back a couple of very reputable sites claimed that Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street directors, in a recent interview Phil Lord himself confirmed that they are indeed working on the movie.
“We’re trying to break a story,” says Lord. “It’s interesting, because there’s a really popular TV show out there, and we’re trying to carve out space for the movie that’s apart from that. I think we’re doing alright. …I believe [our Flash] is going to be Barry Allen. …We’re more trying to stick with the cinematic universe… iI really is its own thing and is kind of a stand-alone movie. We’re just trying to think of the best story. I think you guys will like it, it’s kind of a different take on superhero stuff. I’m optimistic!”
Sounds like confirmation to me, I’m really excited about this, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in high demand (they are even developing a theatrical animated Spider-Man movie for Sony). I’m wondering though how their style would fit into the DC Cinematic Universe, early word on the Flash film before Lord and Miller were confirmed to be was that the studio wanted the flash film to have the tone and similar plot of Silence of the Lambs…which as awesome as it sounds doesn’t really fit Lord and Miller’s style. Hopefully their will adapted to the universe being developed at hand and but not sell out on their frenetic, hilarious, cartoonish style which could work very well for a Flash movie.
Flash is scheduled to hit theaters March 28, 2018 starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen.
