Let me start off by saying I have not seen any of Amy Schumer’s work on Comedy Central, I hear it’s very edgy and funny (which is great because South Park can’t do all the heavy lifting). With that said, I’m a huge Judd Apatow fan and also a big champion for more raunchy female lead comedy films like Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect. So this film is much anticipated for me.
The film is “loosely based of Schumer’s life” follows her character who works for a Men’s Magazine during the day and is a single party girl by night and, at least from what the trailer suggest, hasn’t had a stable relationship due to her endless string of one night stands. That changes when she is hired by her boss to do an piece on a famous sports surgeon (Bill Hader). Along with Bill Hader and Amy Schumer herself, the film also stars Lebron James, Tilda Swilton, Brie Larson and Daniel Radcliffe.
As for the trailer itself, it’s a pretty little neat trailer, I got a lot of little laughs and Lebron James looks like he might steal the show.
Although Judd Apatow hasn’t made a directed a decent film since Knocked Up, hopefully he can regain his mojo with this new film which hits theaters July 17, 2015.
